What few people know is where my life could have gone quite easily.
Particle physics.
I was a whiz at chemistry in high school – even got a tutoring gig for five pounds an hour. Teacher used my lab reports as models for the rest of the class. My best area – or the one that I enjoyed the most – was chemistry at the subatomic level. Electron shells? Bring it. Even in biology my best work was in biochemistry – ions and electron transport chains and all that love. I dreamed one day of smashing atoms and creating anti-matter for the first generation of interplanetary spacecraft. I am not kidding.
So this kind of thing gets my attention – even if I ended up majoring in humanities and seldom get even close to squeal a particle accelerator. Peace out y’all.
