I think not. Presumably a pastor who, according to himself, hates Obama, knows what he means by the word. These people do exist. To pray for someone's death & damnation goes far beyond what is usually meant by "strong principled opposition". Though one could call the hatred of the Nazis for the Jews "strong principled opposition".  The pastor's "strong principled opposition" to Obama is hate of Obama, nothing less. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Gospel - to try to rescue hate by calling it love only succeeds in dragging rown love until it becomes impossible to distinguish from hate.
