New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

Mooching off a system we criticize (or) Thursday morning coffee
Is it fair to criticize a system from which we benefit? It is clear that those on the left say “no”. When I participated in Baptistlife.com the more “liberal” (read – left leaning) members often mocked the more “conservative (read … Continue reading

Idea for the social-political blog name

How dare you even question learned helplessness (or) Wednesday morning coffee
Something interesting happened at The Chronicle of Higher Education this week. Naomi Schaefer Riley posted something that upset enough people who protested strongly enough that she was fired. Schaefer Riley commented on an article in The Chronicle about black studies … Continue reading

Reality and sanity (or) Tuesday morning coffee
Let’s start with one of the sanest things you will read about how to handle a recession. “True Lessons of the Recovery” by Raghuram Rajan in Foreign Affairs. H/T Greg Mankiw Juxtapose some of Rajan’s comments about excessive(?) CEO compensation … Continue reading

I thank thee Lord that I’m better than (or) Sunday morning coffee
James Taranto in his latest piece at the Wall Street Journal again confirms that is becoming increasingly clear. That a significant factor motivating people to take certain social-political stands is the need to feel superior to others. I think the … Continue reading
Good and bad states for business and the significance of regional bigotry
Regional bigotry. I am a proud child of Massachusetts. Spent most of my life in the northeast. Grew up in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut – as well as Great Britain. Perhaps because of my background I have become increasingly aware … Continue reading

Disunity with a chaser of derision (or) Morning coffee
Things are not looking good in the “we thought this would put all that behind us” department. I have avoided saying anything about the so-called Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman case. Because quite frankly we shouldn’t be talking about it. … Continue reading

They have no principles (or) Tuesday afternoon coffee
Been pretty busy lately – pretty much working 6 days/week from morning to night. Not complaining. Just explaining. But I should at least list some of the interesting posts/articles I read each day. Of course nearly everything by James Taranto … Continue reading

This small government classical liberal supports expansion of public transportation
News item = Baton Rouge and Baker pass the CATS (Capital Area Transit System) tax. Baton Rouge has a public bus system. It is not very good – according to many who use it or try to. One of the … Continue reading
