New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

Charles Krauthammer – we *do* have a healthcare reform plan (you just don't like it)
To me the healthcare reform debate is not just or even primarily about healthcare reform. It is about logic and rhetoric – about how people think and speak. I might completely disagree with your views on healthcare reform. But can … Continue reading

Michael Baran perfectly prophesied this president
Well that was a short fast. Let us see how quickly I can get back to it. This was too brilliant and perfectly prescient not to link. Michael Baran who clearly is a very literate fellow wrote “Obama, Shaman” for … Continue reading

NPR's Jim Engster Show – Healthcare reform, communism, and crazy talk
The title is excessively provactive – just trying to get your attention. Yesterday a guest host Jim Nichols was in charge of the “Jim Engster Show” on our local National Public Radio station. (I do not enjoy the show very … Continue reading

NPR celebrates $20 gas and the forced hyper-urbanization of America
Somebody please explain to me why I listen to NPR. Friday afternoon listening to “Talk of the Nation: Science Friday” hosted by Ira Flatow. Talking with writer Chris Steiner author of $20 Per Gallon: How the Inevitable Price of Gasoline … Continue reading
"No Senator. I am not a duck. I am a rabbit"
Readers of this website know that one of my “buttons” – things that make me quite angry and that is not to excuse an un-Christian reaction – is when people insult my intelligence. The nomination of Judge Sotomayor and the … Continue reading

Cal Thomas on the "prematurity" of Sarah Palin
For the record – and for the third or fourth time – I am neither a supporter nor critic of Sarah Palin. What I care about is how people think. How they speak. Accuracy and fairness. Reason and evidence. And … Continue reading
Irony – thy name is "Episcopal"
Frankly I have not paid much attention to this because I do not care an whole lot. The Rev. Alberto Cutié, the celebrity priest removed from his Miami Beach church after photos of him kissing and embracing a woman appeared … Continue reading

Hoisted on their own petard (or) Democrats *prove* why they are irrelevant
Here is one I have never shared. Wright’s Third Generalization: Whenever someone is in error, he/she will not merely contradict himself/herself, but will refute himself/herself. This does not logically have to happen, but it is what happens consistently. (Once during … Continue reading

Political favoritism untrammelled by the rule of law (or) Tincture of Obamaism
George Will again nails it with his recent article on how the Obama Administration governs. The Obama administration is bold. It also is careless regarding constitutional values and is acquiring a tincture of lawlessness. He cites the Obama Administration’s efforts … Continue reading
Easy to avoid hypocrisy when you have no standards (or) We have to be perfect but they do not
{ANYONE GOT A COOL/APPROPRIATE PICTURE?} I believe in getting good grades. Students should aim for straight A’s. I did not always get A’s in school. Does that make me a hypocrite? I believe in being kind patient and generous. Husbands … Continue reading
