New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

SERMON – “In the year that died” (Isaiah 6)
Ed – this Bible reading has been on my mind. Not because of the church budget weirdness of this week – and the concern I would need to find another job/position and soon – but because of a book idea … Continue reading

Stories do not come much more beautiful than this. The New York Times deserves profound gratitude for a magnificent article on Father Moses Berry who is an Orthodox priest in a small rural village in Missouri. Like most Orthodox priests … Continue reading

The election of President Obama and a new era of evangelism – seriously?

Marketing versus(?) evangelism (or) Centripetal ecclesiology
Outreach. Churches agonize about it. Well at least this one does. But listen and observe carefully how people talk about it and attempt to engage in it. Spend thousands of dollars on slick postcards to the community. “There’s a place … Continue reading

As Chasidism so Christian witness
The terrorist targeting of the sole Jewish center in Mumbai India has been particularly rattling. This is what human beings driven by religious fanaticism are capable of. Enough of that. Two of the five (six?) Jewish people murdered at Chabad … Continue reading

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the MDGs
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is now officially in full support of the Millennium Development Goals set forth by the United Nations.* A few months ago I wrote about my ambivalence concerning this new emphasis. The Millennium Development Goals and Christian … Continue reading
