New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

Why conservatism = racism does not hold up to minimal examination (or) Rational voice at the Washington Post
Yeah yeah not another politics post. But this was huge. Many others have made similar arguments. But not in the Washington Post. Kudos to the Washington Post – not normally a bastion of classical liberalism aka “conservatism”* – for publishing … Continue reading

Conspiracy not group think (or) Journolist and news media bias
This is huge. If it turns out to be legit. I sort of followed the whole David Weigel on Journolist brouhaha that led to his being let go by the Washington Post. But leftist bias in the news media is … Continue reading

Failures of imagination and the racism charge redux
One of the things I appreciate about the blog Politics, Policy, Pathology and Hope Within The Black Community (how’s that for a blog title?) is how often he asks “why do we focus so much ire and attention on that … Continue reading
Anyone else getting propaganda emails?
Some of you may remember the Ellie Light episode. More than seventy newspapers across the country all accepted and published the exact same letter-to-the-editor defending President Obama. For the last year or so I have been receiving about once per … Continue reading

Conor Friedersdorf dissects the New York Times (or) *This* is how to respond
Truly brilliant. Okay. So Charles Blow of the New York Times visited a Tea Party rally and called it a “minstrel show”. One of the speakers in question was Alonzo Rachel who categorically does not deserve to be called a … Continue reading

Imagine where the angry violent rhetoric really is (or) Morning tea
I am out of coffee. At least I still have Kenyan tea! Been deeply troubled by coverage of the illegal immigration bill in Arizona. I have never had strong feelings one way or the other and still do not. My … Continue reading

Why do I care?
Why do I care when other Americans are misunderstood and misrepresented? I believe in freedom. And I believe in the value of truth. In no way does that mean people who misunderstand and misrepresent fellow Americans who happen to disagree … Continue reading

How they misportray tells us more about them than about us (or) Tea Party crashers
“Glee” is the only television show my entirely family enjoys watching together. We had been looking forward to the season opener on Monday. There was a “Sarah Palin is stupid” joke. My family did not care about that but thought … Continue reading

Ugliness at Cornell, Tea Party support, leave Barney Frank alone (or) Morning coffee
The more the left tries to stop the Tea Party movement using various means the more it grows. You would think that with the ongoing “stupid and evil fringe extremists” narrative the number of people who identify with the movement … Continue reading

“You shall not bear false witness” (or) Misrepresenting opponents of statism
*Important Update* Associated Press has published an article challenging strongly some of the evidence and arguments advanced to refute claims the N-word was used against members of the Congressional Black Caucus. If the article is correct this is deeply troubling … Continue reading
