New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

Vladimir Lossky and the practicality of "orthodox" theology
The “Introduction” to The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church by Vladimir Lossky was an important turning point in my growing awareness of the importance of sound theology in the Christian life and in the Christian church. This is not … Continue reading

In response to my Baptist friends
Oh dear. There is something just wrong about saying “I am not participating in this particular forum any more” and then responding to comments which recently have appeared on that forum. It is like those celebrities or politicians who “respond” … Continue reading
Metropolitan Jonah and Anglicanism as Western Orthodoxy redux
One of my very first posts on this website was about Anglican Christianity as Western Orthodoxy. That is – if Anglican Christianity either reinvents or rediscovers itself as Western Orthodoxy – as a Western expression of Orthodox Christianity. One does … Continue reading

God and the compression of time
This evening I attended Vespers (with a chrismation) at St Matthew the Apostle Orthodox Church. Fr Mark greeted me and then we had a brief exchange about how today is both Holy Saturday (for me – Western calendar) and Palm … Continue reading
In the church the one and the many are not in conflict
I was struck a few weeks ago by this what Vladimir Lossky wrote in the chapter “Two Aspects of the Church” in his book The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church: This [the Church or Christian society] is the only … Continue reading

Why religion and science need not conflict
I have been slogging through The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church by Vladimir Lossky (a little light reading – actually I barely understand a fraction of it) and in his chapter on “Created Beings” came across this interesting section: … Continue reading
Glory to God for All Things – "Orthodoxy and Science Fiction"
Do I really need to justify linking to this fine and thoughful post by Fr Stephen Freeman? Strangely, I have long thought of science fiction as a form of modern theology – or at least of modern theological thought. It … Continue reading

Post-colonial Anglicanism – or Western Orthodoxy here we come
I am on record as one who argues for a more Orthodox approach to Anglicanism – or for Anglicanism as Western Orthodoxy. That if Anglicanism borrows a page or two or several from the Orthodox playbook – that is (re?)envisions … Continue reading

Patriarchs, primacy, and the pope
About a year ago I was having a rather good lunch with some Episcopal clergy buds when the conversation turned to the relationship between Anglicanism and Orthodoxy. One of these fine priests mentioned how apparently Pope Benedict XVI without much … Continue reading

Anglicanism as Western Orthodoxy: Shall We Gather at The Bosporus?
Anglicanism as Western Orthodoxy: Shall We Gather at The Bosporus? Richard M. Wright (Note: I am not happy with this article. Please consider it a first rough draft that needs plenty of work.) Whither Anglicanism? And how might (Eastern) Orthodoxy … Continue reading
