New Disqus Comments plugin
In a nutshell I want people to be able to leave comments without me having to "approve" them - they appear immediately. But I also want to keep out spam. The anti-spam module for some reason was marking all comments - including my own - as spam. I have since added the Disqus plugin which hopefully will allow anyone with a free Disqus account to be able to leave comments that appear immediately. So far it appears to be working nicely.-

Urban conservatism – a movement worth noting

Academia recognizes complexity of evangelicalism
Interesting article at Chronicle of Higher Education by Timothy Beal entitled “Among the Evangelicals”. Yet as soon as evangelicalism becomes a subject, it splinters and splits. Indeed, taken together, recent studies by more-or-less outsiders show there is no such thing … Continue reading

Tired of the worship wars (or) Why would they leave?
Perhaps no issue has generated more controversy at University Baptist Church than worship. By which one means worship style.* Twelve years ago when I began serving here we had two Sunday morning services. One early more contemporary and supposedly the … Continue reading

The real dividing line – traditional versus ‘liberal’ Christianity
“We cannot continue this dialogue if you continue along this path” [paraphrased]. Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of the Russian Orthodox Church in his address to the Annual Nicean Club Dinner at Lambeth Palace on September 09 among other things said this … Continue reading

Cities as place of life and culture or fear and death (or) Reflections on journey through China, part V
Cities. Several times this website has addressed the significant divide between city and country. I am convinced it is right now the single most important dividing line in both American society and Chinese society. Although perhaps for different reasons. In … Continue reading

Meanwhile in Kenya (or) As America so Kenya?
(Yes I know this website is supposed to get away from politics. But this is huge. And deserves more attention that it will receive in the American media.) Or is it the other way around? As Kenya so America? Most … Continue reading
